The Temora Rural Young Woman Competition is a prestigious event that celebrates the passion, dedication and leadership of young women in rural and regional NSW.

Originally known as the Miss Showgirl Competition, today the competition continues to play a significant role in the development of rural women in our community.

Registration for Rural Young Woman

Registration for Rural Young Woman begins on 15 May 2026 at the Temora Ex-Services Club at 7pm. If unavailable please contact Di directly.

Registration for Junior Showgirl & Junior Boy

Registration begins at 12 noon for juniors.

You will be asked to sign a waiver form when placing your child’s name on the entries list. Each entrant will receive a ribbon which is to be pinned on for the competition. Judging of the Junior Belle & Beau will take place at 2 p.m.

Jorja Winfield


Jorja Winfield

My name is Jorja Winfield, and I am proud to call Temora home. I currently work as a Receptionist at McGrath Temora while completing my Certificate IV in Real Estate, building my career within the local community.


Sport has always played a significant role in my life. I am an international hammer thrower and have had the privilege of representing Regional Australia at international competitions. My involvement in sport extends beyond competing, with much of my time dedicated to volunteering and supporting a number of sporting organisations throughout Temora.

My decision to enter Temora Showgirl came after speaking with a previous Temora Showgirl, who gave me a greater understanding of what the program represents. I realised it was about much more than the competition itself — it is an opportunity to become more involved in the community, develop confidence and leadership skills, and advocate for rural communities and the people within them.

Having also attended the Sydney Royal Easter Show, I have seen the importance of agricultural shows in bringing communities together and showcasing everything regional NSW has to offer. Through my Showgirl journey, I hope to make a positive difference in Temora, particularly by encouraging more young people to become involved in volunteering, local organisations and community events.

Ella Maree Smith


Ella Maree Smith

I am 22 and was born at Temora District Hospital. I started work at the local IGA after school, & as well as working at the hair dressers on a Wednesday. After finishing school in year 11, I than done my cert III in Education Support where I finished my traineeship at the Temora high school. 

I than started a change in 2022 where I spent 4.5 years as a grain handler, drive loaders, loaded trucks and trains. I now work at the Greyhound track as a groundsman curator. I entered "Young Rural Women" because  I wanted to support the local show committee and the town. 

I am looking forward to ride at the Temora 2026 Show. 

Horse riding, skiing, working on the farm, fishing and yabbying.

I drive to various to various towns with the horses. I love chasing cows on Cody.

I have 3 show horses in work, where hopefully I will get enough points so I can go to Canberra, Bathurst and the Sydney easter show 2027. I Have been riding before I could walk.

Makaela Carless


Makaela Carless

Hi my name is Makaela Carless. I have lived in Temora since 2014. I have enjoyed being part of various activities and organisations throughout my time here. My passion is playing and teaching music with the Temora Town Band and Young Regional Conservatorium. 

I am currently studying full time at the University of New England (online) a Bachelor of Education (K-12 teaching) with a major in music and drama. I currently work as a cleaner for a few businesses in Temora and have been since 2019. 

I have volunteered with Temora Show Society since 2018 and I have enjoyed entering the agricultural pavilion since 2014. 

I may be a bit biased or a lot but my favourite part of the Temora Show is entering in the agricultural pavilion and seeing all the entries come in.
